Meet The Trainer – Liz
Chesterbrook, Pa
What motivated you to be a personal trainer?
I was injured a lot as athlete growing up and wanted to study sports medicine so I could help other athletes. I also studied exercise science and realized I enjoyed both and could use the knowledge I learned from my athletic training degree and apply that to any client. Personal training allowed me to pursue what I loved about both exercise science and sports medicine.
What’s your favorite healthy meal?
Ahi tuna with avocado and tomato salad.
Favorite “cheat” meal?
Pizza. Definitely pizza.
What’s one thing you wish everyone who signed up with a personal trainer knew about the process?
It can be a frustrating and difficult process that requires patience. Results will take time, probably more time than you want it to, but if you put in the effort, the results are absolutely worth it.
Favorite exercise?
Deadlifts
How do you keep your clients motivated?
Every client is different. What motivates one person may not mean anything to another. Most people are motivated when they see the first sign of progress toward their goal, and that’s what I try to show them. It can be difficult to see our accomplishments when each day you train is just as hard as the last.
What’s the number one thing you see other personal trainers doing wrong when with a client?
Not taking the time to get to know a client and the reasons why they want to train.
When someone finds out you’re a personal trainer, what question do they always ask you?
They ask if I work out every day.
What destination is #1 on your bucket list?
Zion National Park
Favorite tv show all time?
Seinfeld
What are some qualities of the best personal trainers?
Educated, knowledgeable, compassionate, punctual and personable.
